Peel Regional Police provided limited information, confirming that one individual was shot at approximately 8 a.m. near Winston Churchill Boulevard and Lundene Road, just north of Lakeshore Road West.
The severity of the victim’s injuries remains unknown, according to a statement shared by police on social media.
As a precaution, St. Helen Elementary School and Clarkson Secondary School were placed in hold-and-secure mode, police said.
This safety measure is considered less serious than a full lockdown and is typically used as a preventative step.
Authorities have not disclosed the identity of the victim or the precise location of the shooting.
